Sax-Chamber Orchestra: Día de los Muertos

Join the Southern Miss Sax-Chamber Orchestra for an evening of music exploring the dark, dramatic, and otherworldly in celebration of Día de los Muertos on November 2 in Marsh Auditorium. The program brings together an eclectic collection of works by György Ligeti, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Avenged Sevenfold, and Camille Saint-Saëns, reimagined for saxophones in arrangements by SCO members Ash Loftin, Sean Garde, Mickie Plunkett, and Dr. Dannel Espinoza, respectively. The concert will also feature the world premiere of a new composition by SCO member Caleb Williams. From the haunting and macabre to the theatrical and unexpected, the program showcases the remarkable range of the saxophone while embracing the spirit of a holiday that celebrates remembrance, life, and death. Come celebrate Día de los Muertos with the Sax-Chamber Orchestra... if you dare.
