DESCRIPTION:Join the Concert Band and Symphonic Winds for a joint concert t
 o kick off our spring concert series.\n\nThe USM Concert Band is an auditi
 oned ensemble\, consisting mostly of undergraduate music majors and non-ma
 jors alike. This ensemble performs both traditional and contemporary wind 
 band repertoire\, using flexible\, rotation-based chair seating\, which pr
 ovides students with a variety of musical responsibilities and performing 
 experiences. Recent ensemble achievements include a Children's Concert for
  area schools ("Seymour's Great Big Musical Adventure") and the premiere o
 f a new work by composer Joni Greene (Splitting Light). The Concert Band i
 s under the current direction of Dr. Cody Edgerton.\n\nThe Symphonic Winds
  is a distinguished ensemble recognized for its versatility and commitment
  to artistic excellence. Performing a diverse range of repertoire\, the en
 semble places particular emphasis on contemporary works written for the co
 llegiate wind band\, providing a meaningful and enriching experience for b
 oth music majors and non-music majors. The group is currently under the di
