SUMMARY:Concert Band & University Band in Concert
DESCRIPTION:The USM Concert Band is an auditioned ensemble\, consisting mos
 tly of undergraduate music majors and non-majors alike. This ensemble perf
 orms both traditional and contemporary wind band repertoire\, using flexib
 le\, rotation-based chair seating\, which provides students with a variety
  of musical responsibilities and performing experiences. Recent ensemble a
 chievements include a Children's Concert for area schools ("Seymour's Grea
 t Big Musical Adventure") and the premiere of a new work by composer Joni 
 Greene (Splitting Light). The Concert Band is under the current direction 
 of Dr. Cody Edgerton.\n\nUniversity Band is an ensemble for non-music majo
 r students who wish to continue playing their instrument in concert perfor
 mance. Culminating in a single concert at the end of the semester\, this e
 nsemble plays enjoyable\, accessible band repertoire both old and new. Uni
 versity Band is under the direction of Cody Edgerton and is conducted by g
 raduate students in the M.M. and D.M.A. (Wind Conducting) program.\n\nOrig
